• Edited four books, Surfactant Based Separations Processes (1989) Surfactant-Enhanced Subsurface Remediation: Emerging Technologies (1995), Surfactant-Based Separations: Science and Technology (2000) and Reuse of Surfactants and Cosolvents for NAPL Remediations (1999) also has published more than 150 refereed papers and published presentations
• Is an inventor on sixteen issued patents
• Research has been supported by NSF, EPA, DOD, and DOE, and by more than 20 companies including Dow, DuPont, ICI, Lubrizol, Mobil, Shell, and Arco.
• Dr.Harwell received the 1984 Victor K. LaMer award of the Colloid and Surface Science Division of the American Chemical Society. He has received Best Paper Awards from the Journal of Surfactants and Detergents (2003), the Spring National AIChE Meeting (1996), the Summer National AIChE Meeting (1992), and the American Oil Chemists Society National Meeting (1991).
